Statement
For these photos I tried to capture a combination of moments amongst friends as well as out in the streets of Beloit. At first I was very hesitant to take pictures walking around Beloit, but once I began I immediately saw that there was more of a story to be told than I realized. The lack of intense street life is what at first made me apathetic to taking pictures downtown. However, because of the state that the city is in, there is in fact something that can be conveyed through the photographs. While I am not trying to strictly refer to Beloit as a depressing and lonely place, some of my photos (such as the men with the broken down car and the man staring into a lifeless landscape) do show a theme of isolation in the city. The other photos I took of friends in moment that were genuine and very candid. I would wait for the people I was with to express something that I saw as being real and would hurry to take a picture. While I did struggle with this projects in a lot of ways, I am very happy with at least a few of my pictures.
